I bought this for my husband for Father’s Day from our son, and he was amazed! He really wants to play chess with our son, and they both loved it right out of the box. Great purchase.
You know when you get a new thing? And you kinda keep it next to you all the time…mostly when you were a little kid? Sometimes adults…with like… a bmw keyfob or a fancy watch… well my 15 year old is doing that with this chess board. Thanks for making awesome stuff!
as someone who has a penchant for both miniature things and games, Venture Board has combined both, with creativity and ingenious functionality! I travel a bit and love that I get to bring my favorite games with me. At date, I’ve purchased both the mini chess and the mini backgammon the latter being my most recent purchase. both arrived quickly and have proven sturdy and optimal for travel as well as just being fun to play. My friends have also commented on the ingenuity of Venture Boards products. i’m thrilled with my purchase and couldn’t recommend them more highly!
I've had my Ventureboard XL for almost a week now. First I'll get the negative out of the way. The colored material that they use for the board squares is very easily scratched, especially by the metal magnets on the bottom of the pieces as they move around the board. The way I've been able to partially alleviate this issue is to simply pick the pieces up and set them on their target square instead of sliding them along. This leads into the positives. The magnets are STRONG. These things are fantastic, I have no worries at all of them falling out or moving around during normal transport. It's also fairly compact for its size and travels in the cylindrical container it arrived in perfectly. The pieces are very intelligently shaped, and feel solid. I'd 100% recommend this set to anyone interested in taking their chess on the go or even just in having a smaller, portable set to have around the house. Lastly, their customer service is fantastic. I had an issue wherein I was initially shipped an already used and broken product. Their customer service immediately reached out after I sent them pictures of the defective product and shipped me a new one free of charge. They even paid for expedited shipping. Overall I would absolutely buy this again and plan to but another smaller set from them in the future.
I bought this as a gift for my nephew, who is an avid chess player. He has so many chess sets but absolutely loved the portability of this one! The pieces are clearly labeled and come with additional stickers if needed in the future. The magnet is strong enough for him to pause play, roll up, and continue at a later time. Highly recommend!
The quality is top notch. It's now my hands down favorite board. A reviewer here said it was difficult to tell black king from queen, but they couldn't be more wrong. Maybe they're playing in low low light? They're clearly distinguishable. Loved the mini, now love the xl. Buy it. Do it.

Looking for a minimalist set that's magnetic, look at this set. We'll made, no over mold scrap, magnets are strong enough and compact to not be unsightly. I have my set on a roll up leather board that stores pieces. Worthy for sure. Attractive set.
Pieces stacking and quick game-storage are unique and super convenient.

Th is is perfect for little kids, but not LITTLE LITTLE kids as obviously they can still lose them! I would say if you have a lot of kids do different ages, this is the chess board to get so the older children are not frustrated when a toddler bumps the table or jumps on something and ruins the game!
The board is perfect for on the go study. It fits nicely into a bag and doesn’t take up any space in a work drawer. I was able to discreetly do my chess study whiles at work. I’m happy with my purchase!

I have used it to set up puzzles, unplugged (sort of) i have a chess puzzles book in my kindle and set them up on the board, and it’s been great to slow down, focus, learn, and enjoy. SOLID magnets! They are stuck sturdy, you have to shake it vigorously to make them fall. So much better than any other mini magnet board on the market. I will buy the checkers pieces for my board too!
I was a little reluctant to purchase this chessboard at first because of the strange design, and I was definitely a bit apprehensive about the price. But after taking a chance on it, I can confidently say this is the best portable chessboard you could ask for.
The magnets hold up extremely well, keeping everything in place without being frustrating to move. What I originally thought were “strange” pyramid-style pointy sides actually turned out to be a huge plus—they’re comfortable to grip and make passing the board back and forth really easy.
One of my favorite features is that you can fold the board up mid-game without losing your positions, so you can pick right back up where you left off later. That alone makes it incredibly practical.
The pieces are tall enough to grab easily, and the board itself isn’t too small, so it still feels great to play on without being cramped.
This chessboard has been an absolute joy to use. My son and I both love it.

I wanted a small, magnetic travel chess set but the one's I examined had pieces with weak magnets. I bought these and found them perfect. The magnets were strong enough and the pieces easily managed (given the size).
My daughter likes this set for dinners out and traveling in the car. It really works well!
