The board is very well designed. It is quality,i t is portable, and it keeps pieces in place. This is everything you could ask for with a portable chess/checkers set.
Very high quality, innovative and aesthetically pleasing. I love every board from this company so much that I collected them all. We use all of the boards on vacation, on the airplane, restaurants and breweries. We absolutely love them! Now I just need Mancala and Chinese Checkers! Much love to the VB team!

The pieces are very neatly designed and nice to use with their strong magnetic attraction to the board. I decided to order three sets of extra checkers pieces, which was enough to make playing 9x9 Go a possibility (by playing the pieces next to the intersections of the squares on the board) along with chess and checkers, so my VentureBoard set will be very versatile (although if one decides to order the extra pieces I did, they must be careful in how they organize the pieces to fit them inside the board when rolled up).
We love this chess set so much we own three boards. Two of the originals and one larger set. The magnets are very strong and mid game my kids frequently toss the set into their gym bags to finish up their games later. They survive bike trips, hiking, road trips, etc. completely intact. Perfect gift for the chess lovers in your life.
I love this travel Go set. Super convenient and compact. My only complaint is that the colors aren’t as vibrant as the picture and the colors make it more difficult to see the lines. If the background was the lighter color and the lines were dark it would make a better contrast (like the checkers set).
I knew this was for my husband and me when I ordered it. We had our first opportunity to use it in a waiting room for my annual physical appointment. So much funn-ner than screen playing each other!! It fit perfectly in my purse, backpack or backpack so it's reliably portable. The magnetism strong enough to keep everything together. One suggestion, print out a layout map for setting up and tuck it into the roll to prevent set-up disagreements!

I have the Chess version of the VentureBoard and was excited to see a Backgammon version. I usually take the Chess VentureBoard hiking and camping, so to be able to have a Backgammon version is great! It's the same quality as the Chess version and the magnetic pieces do a pretty good job of remaining in place

I started out with the VB XL. I love the bigger size and the sculpted pieces, but it was a little bulky to transport sometimes. I bought the VB mini because of the compact size, plus it's easier to transport if I ride my motorcycle. It fits right in my vest or jacket pocket. The color is great and my cat likes it too!
VentureBoard has done an excellent job at making highly transportable games. I own the VB Mini Chess and the XL Chess sets as well. The Backgammon is the same size as the Mini Chess which I love for transportability. They're both easy to throw in my motorcycle vest pocket when I head to a friend's house or a brewery. The only draw back for the Backgammon set is that sometimes the strong magnets in the small pieces tend to grab eachother when you're moving around the board. It gets a little frustrating at times, but it's a small trade off for size of the board. Although it may be a little more bulky, I'd love to see them do an "XL" version similar to the XL Chess. Overall, I'm a big fan of the VentureBoard products. These boards have truly opened up opportunities to play just about anywhere, anytime!

Me and my daughter play togheter chess a lot and we also love to go around town exploring, this makes it easier to do both things at the same time, such a lovely product.
The board is well made, with good materials and construction, it feels nice to use and to carry. The pieces have a good size and shape, the magnets are really strong and we have never had a problem with them falling, i really recommend it.
I just hope they eventually make it in pink, it makes a perfect gift.

Admittedly, I'm a checkers fan, so that's where I'm getting the enjoyment out of this product. I bought this mostly for my son, who is almost five, and while he makes up many rules of his own, it's been a great way to introduce him to the idea of checkers and chess. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of either game or someone who is on the fence about purchasing it!
Bought this for my son. He recently achieved 2nd place at his middle school in their chess club. He loves it. Keeps it just as safe as his Lego sets he has built and likes to look at and admire. And brag about.
