VB Chess Skye

I bought this chess board somewhat on a whim, as I liked the concept, but it has proven to be even better than I expected. I have 4 young kids and my oldest likes playing chess with me but we can't always get a full game in before something pops up. The ability to roll this thing up and essentially save the board state has proven remarkably useful for us! Additionally, since I don't have to store the pieces in another spot and the board is simple to put away, I don't see us losing all the pieces like we have with our last 4 or 5 chess boards.
I also really like the quality of everything! I will say that it's pretty small (not that it shouldn't be, as that helps with the travel size aspect) so that's something you should expect. And expect the occasional piece to flip when trying to place it as you get used to it, but honestly it's such a minor thing vs the benefits for me specifically that I don't mind at all.

We purchased this mostly for traveling, camping, car rides, and between soccer games at the field. It is great that you can start a game and roll it up as needed without losing your placement. It's about the size of a water bottle and fits nicely in the side pouch of our backpack. My son even takes it to school to play with friends at lunch. It really works as advertised and if you are on the fence about picking one up, you will not be disappointed.

I bought this for my son who loves chess. It's perfect for him to take to school for impromptu games and for long car rides. So glad this popped up in my feed.
